For Feica life is an art form. One can portray it in a painting, drawing, sketch, sculpture or a cartoon. And this philosophical thought was clearly reflected in the artworks of distinguished artist Feica exhibited at the Art Gallery of Alliance Francaise de Karachi recently.

The artworks at the exhibition were the representation of artist's views on life, art and himself. Feica has selected a universal theme of love for his current series of works titled "Inextricable Love". "Whenever I meet, see or confront including myself and whatever situation I experience, it becomes a subject of art, of my art, of life as art," he said while elaborating his work.

In unstable circumstances of the world love is the only emotion which helped human beings bear the hardships of life and people survive the world's wars, anarchy, lust of power and money. It seems as if all these things have become above humanity but for common people love is above all the bad factors and conditions of times they are living in at present. Only love has the power to conquer the conflicts of the world. The love bond binds people in relationships that only break by death. Societies and governments are falling apart in various countries but only love survived.

An alumnus of National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore Feica is a prolific artist and is one of the country's leading cartoonists. After graduating from the NCA, Feica started his career by drawing for various local publications and now he is associated with a leading newspaper since 1992.

I got inspired by his work depicting Imran Khan's dharna at D-Chowk. Making cartoons is his daily job other than passion for drawing and painting. He explored his creative self in various mode of art. Using his instincts he draws spontaneous lines which take shape of cartoons and drawings.

He discovers and rediscovers life in art as he see art and life as two sides of a coin. He experimented and inquired through his art the philosophy of life. He used human anatomy symbolically as his expression of society. One can also see a crow in his works which act like a witness to the events being drawn. His strong ideas took shape in his lines and strokes to create awareness among masses. He mainly showed love and burden of life side by side as love helped people endure pains of life. His works showed men with their hands tied behind their back or doubled up with burden and pain tangled in ropes. Thus he convincingly conveys his message to others.
